Christ Is the Unity in Our Diversity

Ever wondered what a church is really meant to be like according to Christ? This is what the Bible says,

Declare a holy fast; call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord. – Joel 1:14

In the old testament, coming together was specific to the gathering within a building. But in the new testament, it is the gathering within HIS body. He doesn’t discriminate by gender, age, demographics, economic status, or stature. So just as we are all one in Christ, we ought to conform to the unity that Christ expects of us.

How do we do that?

The greatest tools that can pull people together irrespective of their tongues or tribes are prayer and praise. That is why we can confess to this: While the old testament faith was a translation of uniformity, the new testament faith celebrates diversity. Christ is the unifying factor among us all.

What can we not do in Christ if we are unified? This form of unity can repel within our lives and propel much growth.

How then do we make sure that we stay unified? Just by merely going to a church we tens and thousands of Christians come together under one sanctuary doesn’t do justice to the unity that God expects. In fact, there is so much more to it!

Christian believers who look to build the bridge with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ must be able to:

A- Accept one another

B- Bear with one another

C- Care for one another

The simplest and the most straightforward way to do this is to pray for the other person as prayer accepts, bears, and cares in its truest form. You can keep one another in prayer and be unified in the body of Christ as one’s growth will be equated to yours and your growth to theirs.

The Bible says,

By speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. – Ephesians 4:15

You also cannot live a God-centered Christian life if you do not adhere to this solemn heavenly principle: To build and not tear down.

That is why there is no room for those who look to tear down the kingdom. As Christians, we cannot be one in His body and at the same time:

    • Raise arguments

    • Be a blockade for anyone

    • Criticize anyone

    • Discriminate people

In today’s world, it’s impossible to stay away from any form of the above and be able to be accepted among those around us. With multiple ways to collect and conform to gossip, the hours spent aimlessly doom-scrolling can do nothing to uplift our soul, let alone be able to keep up a Christ-like life. Social media is meant to do just that: create in us a mind of inferiority and insecurity and a distraction from living holy lives.

But this isn’t how Christians are called to grow in Christ. Growth is destined for us only when we can replicate the truth we received in the lives of others around us. Our unity must be a testament to those yet to be unified. We can do so by:

    • Being a blessing to others

    • By benefiting those around us

    • By reducing their burdens in any which way that we can.

Prayer is proven to work wonders in other’s lives but how much of an impact it can leave depends on you. You cannot be called into Christianity if Christ doesn’t live in you and to this the Bible says,

So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. – Ephesians 4:17

The Ark Connect is one such platform that allows you to grow in your faith and in the oneness of Christ as Christians from all across the globe. This app is looking to transcend geographical boundaries, break the stereotype that other social media platforms have built and be able to carry forward the revival in these last days. You can now use your scrolling time to do little acts of service for God’s kingdom through prayer and being encouraging to one another.
